In the initial diagnostic visit I assess the underlying imbalance leading to one’s condition. During this first visit, which takes about two hours, the patient’s history, lifestyle, present condition, bodily systems, likes and dislikes, and other information from a physical exam are taken into account to determine the state of vital energy. It is also a time to get to know you and listen to your concerns regarding any aspect of your life and health in general. No needles will be used at this time.
Treatment involves the use of acupuncture needles and or “moxa”. When very fine needles are inserted into acupuncture points, the qi can be strengthened and the flow enhanced. The burning of moxa (an herb known as Artemesia Vulgaris Latiflora), which is shaped into a small cone and placed on the point, can also be used to gently warm the energy before needling, and provides healing properties that enhance the movement of energy. (For frequency and number of treatments needed, see FAQ’s.)
"A practitioner of Worsley Acupuncture must strive to see patients not just as they are at the time of examination, but as they would be if they were whole and perfect in body, mind and spirit, with every possibility of their unique being realized."
